In our schools, we identified activities connected with environment as well as actions in which the students came together to accomplished their environmental goals. But, we never went deeper in the curriculum with study around issues such as climate change, energy saving, reproducing, pollution, endangered species, deforestation. In the 21st, century with changes to the way children develop, we need adapt new ways to motivate the children including teamwork and cooperation, technology integration and the use of a foreign language in the everyday education program. This is complex work for the teachers because the classic learning methods do not satisfy modern needs and approaches of the children to their learning. Because of that we decided that we need to plan innovative strategies, approaches and techniques which will integrate use of the English language in ecological education and allow partners to exchange positive experiences and good practice with the aim of raising awareness among children for environmental issues.
All partner schools in the meeting which was organized before this project decided on several strategies, approaches and techniques which will be integrated in the ecological education program of all the school partners.
Since we made several explorations and we analysed our strengths and weaknesses, we decided to introduce:
1. Adaptive and personalized Learning
2. Gaming elements
3. Learning with video technology
4. Computerized Story Telling
5. Project Learning
Each partner school would team up with colleges, organizations and NGOs, sort out workshops about these techniques and connect them with Environmental Education. On account of these creative techniques, the educators will have the chance to improve pedagogy and share great practices. Additionally, the nature of learning will be improved because students are looking, showing, encountering, breaking down, using basic reasoning and critical thinking abilities. The Partners’ also have a shared objective to ensure students utilize English viably as another inspiration for this task. The teachers of all the partner schools agreed on the need to use an increasingly objective arranged technique which centers around learning language and subject-specific vocabulary. CLIL, Content and Language Integrated Learning, which alludes to encouraging subjects through an unknown language is picked as the best fit language system for this undertaking.
